SOS Education Programs

The SOS Approach to Feeding Program offers comprehensive training to help you take your feeding therapy to the next level.

Level 1 Basic: SOS Basic Conference Training

  • Receives foundational information regarding feeding development, evaluation, and SOS Treatment.
  • Training is delivered live/onsite through lecture, case presentations, and group activities.
  • Receive Certificate of Attendance that is eligible for submission to Professional Organization for Continuing Education Hours earned during course. Attendee must verify directly with Conference Host to confirm eligibility and continuing education credit availability.
  • Does not certify attendee in accurate application of the SOS Approach to Feeding Program.
  • Listed on the SOS Referral List as an SOS Basic Provider (Level 1).

Level 2 Advanced: Advanced SOS Training via Online Workshops

  • Receives foundational information on special topics in feeding and special populations of children with specific feeding problems.
  • Workshops topics include: Gastroesophageal Reflux, 6-16 Month Old Child, Transitioning Off Supplemental Tube Feedings, Feeding the Child on the Autism Spectrum, Adaptation for the School Aged Child, Working with Children with Severe Developmental Impairments, Food Tolerance Decision Making, From Lunchables to Lunch and Variety to Volume, Tools in your Pantry, Parents as Partners.
  • Training is delivered online through webinar lecture.
  • Receives Certificate of Attendance for Continuing Education Hours earned during individual workshop(s) taken online.
  • Listed on the SOS Referral List as an SOS Advanced Provider (Level 2) (with Specific Topic or Special Population training).

Level 3: SOS Mentorship Program

  • Receives higher level information regarding implementation of SOS Approach To Feeding program into different practice settings, additional clinical reasoning considerations for treatment planning, and in depth discussion regarding SOS Treatment.
  • Receives personalized guidance and feedback regarding participant’s use of the SOS Approach to Feeding in their setting and with their clinical caseload.
  • Training is delivered through lecture, case presentations, group activities and clinical discussions, and homework assignments.
  • Receives Certificate of Attendance that is eligible for Professional Development Hours or Continuing Education Hours earned during course. Attendee must verify directly with their professional organization to confirm eligibility and continuing education credit availability before registering for the course.
  • Does not certify attendee in accurate implementation of the SOS Approach to Feeding Program.
  • Listed on the SOS Referral List as an SOS Mentored Provider (Level 3). Advanced topics will also be listed by specialty area.

Level 4: SOS Certification Program

  • Receives expert level information in the implementation of the SOS Approach.
  • Training is delivered through individualized mentoring and feedback regarding participant’s use of the SOS Approach in treatment through Case Study Presentations.
  • Demonstrates mastery of understanding of the SOS Approach and ability to utilize the SOS Philosophies in treatment.
  • Receives Certificate of Attendance for Continuing Education Hours earned during the course. Attendee must verify with professional organization to confirm eligibility and continuing education credit availability prior to registration.
  • Receives Certification of SOS Practice upon successful completion of course.  Mastery of an advanced level of clinical reasoning and knowledge in the SOS Approach To Feeding program is documented.
  • Practitioner is considered an SOS Certified Therapist.
  • Ability to request permission to conduct research on the SOS Approach.
  • Listed on the SOS Referral List as an SOS Certified Therapist (Level 4). Advanced topics will also be listed by specialty area.
