This Advanced Workshop helps attendees expand their understanding of Sensory Processing Disorders, the relationship between arousal, regulation and feeding skills, and how to best implement Sensory based strategies to facilitate successful SOS Feeding Therapy sessions. The workshop begins with a more detailed discussion of how Sensory Processing Disorders directly impact a child’s feeding behaviors. The workshop then focuses on practical sensory-based strategies for improving SOS Feeding Therapy Sessions.

To ensure Learners successfully achieve the Learning Outcomes above and to satisfy the completion requirements to receive continuing education credits, all Learners are expected to view the online workshop in its entirety. Course Level

The SOS Approach to Feeding conference is an advanced level course: Information is geared to practitioners with a general working knowledge of current practice trends and literature related to the subject matter. Focus is on increasing understanding and competent application of the subject matter.

The Advanced Workshops require learners to have previously completed the SOS Approach to Feeding training program and provide Certificate of Completion from the 3-4 day Main Training Conference (since 2010) prior to registering for the Advanced Workshop.

Helping Children Achieve and Maintain the Just Right Arousal Space for Learning – Bethany CF Kortsha

Bethany CF Kortsha, MA, OTR/L received her Master of Arts degree in Occupational Therapy from The College of Saint Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota. She completed her Master’s thesis on Autism and feeding challenges using the SOS Approach to Feeding. Bethany currently works as a Pediatric Feeding Specialist at S.O.S. Feeding Solutions at STAR Center (Sensory Therapies and Research Center with Dr. Lucy Jane Miller). She also is the Director of Clinical Mentorship for Toomey & Associates, Inc. Prior to joining STAR Center and Toomey & Associates, Inc., Bethany worked as a member on a multidisciplinary team in a day treatment clinic for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, SPD, emotional/behavioral disorders, and feeding problems. Additionally, Bethany has completed the SPD Foundations Intensive Mentorship Program and is a certified DIR Floortime Provider.
