Participant Expectation and Course Requirements

To meet the goals of the Certification program and to receive full credit to pass this Course, participants are expected to and agree to:

Tardiness, Leaving Class Early and/or Missing a Class

Attendance and tardiness will be noted by the SOS professor on the class roster each week. Students are expected to notify the lead SOS Professor for their Certification Course = Deborah Lagerborg ([email protected]), as soon as they are aware of a possible attendance issue.  Ideally, students will be able to notify their SOS Professors PRIOR to any tardiness/attendance issue.

Incomplete, late or missing homework and/or a lack of Student Participation

Students who do not fully complete, or submits late homework assignment, or who do not contribute to a Class Discussion will be contacted by their designated SOS Professor and required to create a written plan for completing the homework or course requirements.  Students who are unable to comply with their plan will be asked to withdraw from the course.  Students will still be contractually required to pay for any outstanding course registration fees even if they are not able to continue in the course.

Remediation Option

Participants who do not meet the requirements to pass the Certification Course may be offered remediation after the course ends to help them achieve the certification requirements that were not achieved during the 12-weeks of the course.  If remediation is offered, there will be an additional charge for the SOS Professor’s time in overseeing and assisting with the remediation process.

Upon completion of the remediation sessions, participants will be subject to an additional evaluation conducted by the SOS Professor to confirm their understanding and achievement of the course requirements.

If they successfully complete the secondary evaluation, they will be considered SOS Certified and issued a certificate of completion.
